Luke Bryan has a strong message to share, “There’s room at the table for everybody to be country.”
Recently, Cody Alan and Luke found some time to catch up while on the beaches of Mexico during Luke’s ‘Crash My Playa’ festival. During the sit-down, Cody told Luke that he feels like his recent songs have had a “uniting” and “inclusive” theme.
Cody said, “I grew up in the South listening to country music. I helped my Grandpa work on his land in South Carolina and was rewarded with a trip to his pond to fish. So that’s the country I come from. And I’m also gay, which to some people, may seem at odds with country life. But it’s not. We’re all different, we all come from different places and yet country music brings us together with its realness, heart and lyrics.”
On the topic of inclusiveness, Luke states, “Most People Are Good’ really had some amazing things to say. And I’m proud of my country background. With "What Makes You Country" no matter what level of country you are, whether you are a lawyer who lives in the city that drives and takes your kids horseback riding and camping, be proud of being that country, and be proud if you’re the countriest person on the planet."
