Cardi B has had enough of people calling out celebrities for living extravagant lifestyles.
While defending herself and fellow celebs against Internet bullies, the "Money" rapper opened up about her finances, breaking down how much money she makes per month, and how much she has to give to taxes. "You know what I hate, I hate when celebrities do something very extravagant, buy something very luxurious and there's people in the comments like 'you could of donated that' [...] and it's like...who are you to tell people what to do with they hard workin' a** money," she said in a since-deleted Instagram video on Tuesday (February 5). "First of all, do you know that artists, celebrities... the IRS, out of every check that you make they automatically take 45% of your check. That means in order to spend $500,000 you gotta make at least a million."
Cardi continued: "Artists like me and a lot of rappers that I know, they literally take care of their whole family, and that's not tax deductible because the IRS don't consider that a business. On top of that, being an artist, looking good for y'all, doing all this extra sh*t to please y'all — that sh*t costs money. Like me for example, my bills is like, I'd say about $300,000, $250,000 every single month and I try to put it cheaper and it's just not."
Cardi's IG rant came after she revealed she's suffering from anxiety. On Monday (February 4), the "Money rapper got real about her mental health tweeting: "Anxiety is kicking my a** right now." The candid tweet sparked thousands of reactions online from fans and celebrities alike who responded with words of affirmation and stories of their own struggles with anxiety.
"You got this. Just exist. You’ll come out the other side I promise," comedian Sarah Silverman tweeted in response to Cardi's tweet. Missy Elliott also replied on Twitter, writing, "Many people deal with this... i am one... it’s real." And after a fan noted that "People have no idea the things artists go through behind the scenes," Missy added: "Yes it is a lot and I have things that trigger mines...it’s scary at times."
