Leave it to Chrissy Teigen to turn adopting a hamster into a hilarious Twitter saga. The 33-year-old cookbook author took to social media to document her journey as a new hamster mom and, TBH, it's riveting. This story has everything: rodent intrigue, plot twists, and, thankfully, a happy ending.

It all started when Chrissy revealed she and her 3-year-old daughter Luna brought a new furry friend into their family. "Luna and I bought a hamster today. Her name is peanut butter. John is not thrilled, which makes me love her more," Chrissy shared on Twitter.

"They told us we can feed her anything. My mom said 'rice?' And they go 'no, not rice'" she continued. "They also said “don’t really touch her for a week. Then touch her a lot or she’ll bite you” it’s very confusing, being a hamster mom."

She took to asking her followers for advice and hamster-rearing expertise. "I said 'should I get two so they can have a friend?' And the lady said no, one will end up with a lot of bully scars. So any hamster tips are welcome," Chrissy wrote in another tweet.

She then shared a video of Peanut Butter climbing on the bars of her cage and chomping on them. "Is this normal?" Chrissy asked. When fans criticized her for giving the Hamster a small cage, she cleared things up. "Please don’t feel bad for her. We got her everything and more and a giant space to roam in. If I had a safe enclosure for a hamster farm, I would have that," she wrote.

This is where things really start to get interesting. "Welp, the hamster got out. Just what you all told me would happen," she revealed. She quickly followed up, though, saying "found her." It wasn't long though before Chrissy updated everyone following her hamster saga with baited breath. "Oh my f*****g g the hamster is gone again."

"We are doing your peanut butter on a plate trick to find Peanut Butter. I swear to god if other critters come out of the woodwork for it, John will vomit and die," she wrote.

Chrissy managed to expertly clap back at trolls calling her out for losing the hamster again, saying she should have researched hamsters more before adopting one. "Well newsflash I had two whole babies I didn't research either. Honestly I researched hamsters more than I did with babies," she said.

She kept her followers in the loop, sharing videos of her hamster catching tactics. She even set her baby monitors on the peanut butter plates so she could see if the hamster appeared while she wasn't in the room.

All her hard work was worth it. Peanut Butter reappeared, bringing Chrissy to tears of joy. "I love her even more now. She's a sneaky b," Chrissy tweeted.

"I swear if you asked me to draw what she looked like I would have said she was solid white with a brown face. that's how little we had her before she escaped," Chrissy shared. "She’s all wet and I don’t know why. What was your day like, please tell me."

She made sure to thank all of her followers for chiming in with advice during the great rodent escape of 2019. "Thank you guys for all your help and tips, really. If you’re worried for her, please don’t be. I have all new stuff coming for her now that you’ve taught me so much. She is very loved, I promise."

She then revealed that she and Peanut Butter were ending the day watching Real Housewives together and "sharing yogurt from the same spoon."

We're so glad Peanut Butter is safe and sound. Fingers crossed she doesn't go missing again!
