It looks like Tool fans are in for a big Cinco de Mayo.

While details remain scarce around the band's forthcoming new studio album, guitarist Adam Jones recently gave fans their most substantial peek at new Tool music in 13 years. In a video shared to Instagram, Jones performed :59 of an unidentified piece of music presumed to be from the long-awaited new album.

Hours later, Tool singer Maynard James Keenan memed one of the band's old press photos with the words "Feeling cute. Might play some new material on this upcoming tour. idk."

To make no mistake, he added "Eyes on @tool," along with #riotgearretired — an overt reference to the police riot gear costume he's worn on stage with Tool in recent years — and his favorite Tool-related hashtag, #whileyouwerewhiningwewereworking.

On May 5, Tool is scheduled to perform at the Welcome To Rockville Festival in Jacksonville, Florida.

Jones and Keenan are the two members of Tool most publicly active on social media. While Keenan has begrudgingly fielded questions about the band's status for years, Jones has shared a handful of photos from the studios where the band recorded, mixed and mastered the new music.

Tool announced a slew of 2019 tour dates in March, not long after Keenan posited that the new album would finally arrive between May and July.
