Demi Lovato's "Cool for the Summer" did much more than just scorch up the charts in 2015, but the hit's bi-curious insinuations helped plenty of fans in their coming out journeys.
On Wednesday (May 7), the 26-year-old pop star took to Instagram Stories to share a screen capture of a fan's coming out story. "Remember when Demi used to say 'Go tell your mother' on tour?? ok, so when she said that, I was in the closet. I was rly scared to tell my mom I wasn't straight but Demi helped me so much. I know it might be weird but I just needed someone who inspired me saying it was okay to be me," @lovatosbreathin wrote in the tweet. "And I'm so glad I told my mom. We have a nice relationship now & she even talks to me abt girls somethings!!! :)"
"This makes me so happy and proud. Never be ashamed of who you love. We're all equal and deserve equal rights as well," Lovato responded to the message alongside emojis of pink hearts and a rainbow.
Meanwhile, Scooter Braun, who manages chart-toppers Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande, recently hinted that Lovato might be dropping new music soon. In addition to teasing a "big week" ahead for the aforementioned pair, he also shared a suspect tweet with just Lovato's name and a smiling emoji. Her last single, "Sober," dropped almost a year ago, but career ventures were paused when the star suffered a near-fatal overdose in July 2018 and entered a two-month rehabilitation after her relapse.
