Halsey's knack for reimagining a song was witnessed during her recent cover of the Jonas Brothers' comeback hit, "Sucker," which she performed for BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge alongside a live band, and the reception was deserving.
On Thursday (June 6), the pop star's rendition of the pop hit took to YouTube and it sees the 24-year-old transform the upbeat dance track into a jazzy slow-paced anthem with some fitting saxophone backing. Unlike the original, her version hears her incorporate a gritty growl and even some belting into the track's climatic chorus at the end of the performance. Elsewhere in her visit to BBC Radio 1, the singer also churned out a stripped back cover of her new single, "Nightmare."
Unsurprisingly, the JoBros were big fans of the cover and took to Twitter to share some love for the pop star's work. "Oh my God. Halsey, that was amazing. Thank you so much for covering 'Sucker.' It sounded incredible. We love you!" the comeback kids chimed in collectively throughout a brief video. Halsey returned the love by responding back with her own words of support. "I love you guys too!!!!! And I love this song! Thank you!!!!!!!!" she wrote alongside several heart eye emojis.
