Why Did The 1975 Just Delete Their Social Media Accounts?

The 1975 are definitely up to something.
On Wednesday (July 24), the indie rockers deleted all their social media accounts without warning. What's even more interesting is the fact that the move happened a day after they seemingly teased new music. On Tuesday (July 23), the band shared what looks like Notes on a Conditional Form album art with the words "WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP!" plastered on top. The image was not accompanied by a caption; however, frontman Matty Healy has said their fourth album would be called Notes on a Conditional Form.

Could this all be a ploy to promote the new album? Signs are all pointing to "yes." Other than social media wipeouts being the latest promotional trend and The 1975 teasing new music before deactivating their accounts, last month Healy gave fans an update on the album's status via Instagram stories that suggest new music is coming next month. “This record is taking longer than I thought but that’s cool," he wrote. "I will start putting music out in August but I really don’t know when the whole album will be out / finished."
We'll just have to wait and see what The 1985 have up their sleeves, but we think new music is coming sooner rather than later.
