At the beginning of the month, Juvenile and Birdman had announced that a new song called "Ride Dat," a collaboration featuring Lil Wayne, was "coming ASAP." Well, it's finally ASAP, because the track has officially arrived via Cash Money Records.
Featuring production from DRoc, "Ride Dat" reunites Juvenile and Birdman as the rappers and Lil Wayne trade verses over a beat laced with smooth piano notes. Fans can keep an eye out for the official "Ride Dat" music video, which is expected to be released soon.
"Ride Dat" is the first taste of Juvenile and Birdman's forthcoming new collaborative album I'm On My Sh*t, which follows their first collaboration record Just Another Gansta (J.A.G. for short) that they released earlier this year in March. J.A.G. included 12 songs and a feature from Memphis rapper NLE Choppa. Although details have yet to be revealed, with their "Ride Dat" feature from Lil Wayne in the can already, I'm On My Sh*t is sure not to disappoint.
In fact, when Juvenile and Birdman originally reunited for J.A.G., the project was only supposed to be an EP. Juvenile explained to Billboard during an interview, "It was supposed to be a five-song EP, something to just put the word out. But it just turned into something else." And now we have a second album.
And in the same interview, Juvenile explained of reuniting of Birdman the first time, "You had friends in the past that you didn’t like, and you wanted to knock they head off. But you go on, and thinking about the good outweighing the bad. I’m trying to set an example for not only my family, but for the ones after them and all the people that is watching us. You can’t hold a grudge the rest of your life, especially if it is somebody you did business with and you were real successful with. I think you should be able to go back to the table and talk it out. And see where he went wrong and see where y’all fell off at. And let that shit go, let it go."
