Billie Eilish performed at Atlanta's Music Midtown over the weekend, and before her appearance announced that she would be donating an undisclosed portion of her festival proceeds to Planned Parenthood. Her decision comes after Georgia's governor signed a controversial law banning abortions after the sixth week of pregnancy — a time at which a lot of women aren't yet aware they've conceived.
“ATLANTA. one of my favorite places in the world, to be in, and play shows!! but i do not love the state’s lawmaker’s decision to take away women’s rights. I still cannot believe we are even having this conversation in 2019,” the 17-year-old wrote on her Instagram story. She then revealed that she would not only be dedicating her performance to Planned Parenthood, but would also be giving part of her guarantee to the organization. She then encouraged fans to do the same, if they were financially capable. “if you have any spare change, donate. you can seriously help someone,” she wrote.
This isn't the first time Eilish has publicly backed Planned Parenthood. She, along with a large list of prominent artists, participated in the reproductive rights organization's #BansOffMyBody campaign.
Eilish will be performing at this year's Daytime Stage at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas on September 21st alongside a lineup of incredible rising stars. A lineup of superstars are also set to perform on the main stage at T-Mobile Arena throughout the weekend, and fans across the country can tune in and watch an exclusive live stream of the show via The CW App and CWTV.com. Then, on October 2nd and 3rd, relive all of the epic performances from the weekend during a televised special on The CW Network at 8pm ET/PT. And leading up to the official television special, The CW will also air an hour-long Best Of Special on Sunday, September 29th at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
