Batwoman actress Ruby Rose took to Instagram to reveal that she quietly underwent emergency surgery earlier this year for a stunt injury that almost left her paralyzed.
In a three-minute video, which showed a graphic play-by-play of the procedure, the star, 33, admitted that she underwent surgery to avoid facing possible paralysis."To everyone asking about my new Pez dispenser scar on my neck... A couple of months ago I was told I needed an emergency surgery or I was risking becoming paralyzed," she wrote. "I had herniated two discs doing stunts, and they were close to severing my spinal chord. I was in chronic pain and yet couldn't feel my arms."
Rose, who was announced as The CW's Batwoman in August, made sure that she also used the opportunity to send thanks to the professionals, particularly one named Dr. Bray, for "allowing [her] to keep working and doing what [she] loves." "I am forever in your debt," she added.
As for why she recruited someone to film the procedure, well, Rose credited a famed episode of Grey's Anatomy, writing, "Did you not watch that Greys anatomy episode where they left a towel in a patient?? Also I wanted to see what happens when we go under."
