Back in August, Chvrches teased that they planned on releasing "the best thing we've ever done" before the year's end, and when pressed for more details singer Lauren Mayberry elusively said "it's music connected to a thing."
Could that "thing" be the upcoming video game Death Stranding? Because the band just released a song of the same name, and it's a cinematic masterpiece.
"We were really excited about the opportunity to work with Kojima because we have been fans of his work for a long time," the indie rockers said in a press release. "He has always been such a visionary in the gaming world and we were honoured to be involved in the project. The concept of 'Death Stranding' is so unique and really felt to us like it was challenging people to care about the world they create—in the game and otherwise. We wrote this song specifically for 'Death Stranding,' thinking of the themes of the game and what it is trying to say to people."
Death Stranding is set to release on November 8 for Playstation 4 and can be pre-ordered here. It's corresponding soundtrack, Death Stranding: Timefall, is slated to come out the day before (November 7) and also features music from Major Lazer, Bring Me The Horizon, and The Neighbourhood.
