Kesha Isn't Going Down Without 'Raising Hell' In Her New Single

Kesha is a wife on the run in the visual for her new single.

The singer-songwriter signaled her new era early Thursday morning (October 24) with the release of “Raising Hell,” the first offering to come off her upcoming album, High Road. “Mama raised me well/ But I don’t wanna go to heaven without raising hell,” the superstar sings in the banger featuring NOLA bounce queen Big Freedia, who adds fun ad-libs to spice up the song's tempo.

Embodying the millennial sentiment of living one’s best life, Kesha preaches the modern message with vintage visuals directed by Luke Gilford. The project depicts the vocalist as a televangelist whose need to party doesn’t quite mesh with the sumptuous lifestyle she’s built with her violent, disgruntled husband, who ends up paying for his actions by the video’s end.

Kesha revealed in a recent interview how a chance encounter with Freedia on the Kesha Cruise led the musicians to link up. “We ended up hanging all night until the sun came up. We got matching tattoos on the high seas, and by the end of the night I was like, ‘we’re working together, done. It’s done,’” Kesha recalled. “When I was mixing ‘Raising Hell’ I thought to myself, Freedia would be amazing on this. She’s Queen Freedia. I called her up and it was an instant ‘hell yeah.’ So her and I, we just have so much fun together.”

After delivering 2017’s Rainbow, Kesha announced her long-awaited fourth studio album has officially been set to drop on January 10. To get fans excited for its arrival, she unveiled a vintage-style two-minute album trailer that features clips from the video for “Raising Hell.” What’s more, it’s been said High Road will feature an impressive roster of collaborators including Jeff BhaskerMacklemore's Ryan LewisImagine Dragons’ Dan ReynoldsJustin TranterTayla Parx and fun.'s Nate Ruess.
