There's no place like home for the holidays. However, when Keith Urban was getting his start in Nashville, he sometimes couldn't afford to make the trek home.
In a recent interview with Cody Alan, Keith admitted that his dreams of being a country star came with a price. "Some of the Christmases are a bit lonely," shared the "Blue Ain't Your Color" singer.
Thankfully, those lonely Christmases weren't the conventional way to celebrate. "A lot of the time, I would go back to see my family in Australia at Christmas. Not every Christmas, and not early on, I couldn't afford it. I couldn't keep going back and forth, you know? But, it's a great time to go back to Australia because its smack dab in the middle of summer so everyone goes to the beach. Its 90 degrees. It's crazy!"
Who knew that Coastal Claus started in Australia? We made that up.
Keith Urban released his first-ever Christmas song, "I'll Be Your Santa Tonight." You can get your holly jolly on by streaming the video below.
