Lauv is looking to make changes for the better.
The singer-songwriter released his new single, “Changes,” the latest offering to appear on his upcoming debut album ~how i’m feeling~. The easy-going, uplifting record gives meaning to the purpose of wanting to become a better version of yourself — and makes quite the befitting anthem with the arrival of the new year.
“I’m getting rid of all my clothes I don’t wear/ I think I’m gonna cut my hair cause these days I don’t feel like me/ I think I’m gonna take a break from alcohol, probably won’t last that long/ But Lord knows I could use some sleep,” he croons in the opening verse over a slow and steady piano rhythm, leading listeners into the uplifting chorus, “Changes/ They might drive you half insane but it’s killing you to stay the same but/ It’s all going to work out, it’s all going to work out someday.”

often times in my life i’ve felt like i’m living a simulation, in the sense that i live in fear of change. in fear of making a wrong decision. so i stick to patterns and old habits even when they don’t serve me or anyone else. drinking too much. ignoring problems in the world. not trusting myself.. thus staying in a world where my actions are predetermined and my habits control me (and not the other way around). this song is about getting to the point in my life where i could no longer stand to stay like this. when i could no longer stand to do things that didn’t make me happy and that didn’t help anyone else. this song is about becoming better. about empowering yourself. this is ‘changes’ - i hope you feel it and love it 💜
