Katy Perry Recalls Hilarious Way Her Mom 'Ruined' Her Pregnancy Reveal

Katy Perry says her mother, Mary, basically spoiled her pregnancy announcement.

Sharing the hilarious story during a recent radio interview on Thursday (March 5), the “Dark Horse” singer, who is expecting her first child with fiance Orlando Bloom, admitted she wasn’t just going to outright tell her loved ones she was pregnant — she had a creative announcement in mind.

According to PEOPLE, Perry explained, “I put the news on a wine label … [I was planning to] bring it to a dinner or something or I would give it as a gift to a friend — like, ‘Oh, here’s a nice bottle of wine,’ and then they’d [have] the reaction later.”

Sadly, the 35-year-old’s sneaky scheme was foiled after Mary found herself browsing her daughter’s wine cabinet (“which she never does,” Perry added) and — you guessed it! — found out the news for herself. “And she’s like, ‘What is this?!’ And that’s how it happened. I was like, ‘Well, you ruined the surprise,’ ” Perry recalled. “I guess moms have intuition unlike any other, right?”

Katy Kats completely lost it when Perry bared her baby bump for the first time in her wedding-theme music video for “Never Worn White,” a touching ballad dedicated to her love for her English hunk and husband-to-be.

“Thank God that you were man enough to come/ Answer my mama's prayers/ You asked the question, I said, ‘Yes’ But I'm scared,” Perry sings leading up to the emotional chorus. “'Cause I've never worn white/ But I wanna get it right/ Yeah, I really wanna try with you/ No, I've never worn white/ But I'm standin' here tonight/ 'Cause I really wanna say ‘I do’ I do.”

As fans know, Perry and Bloom, who have been engaged since last Valentine’s Day, will reportedly tie the knot this April.
