Selena Gomez dropped by The Kelly Clarkson Show on Friday (March 6) and chatted with Kelly Clarkson about her new album Rare. The 27-year-old pop star also opened up about receiving criticism for her vocal ability, especially after her performance of 'Lose You To Love Me' at the American Music Awards. It was Selena's first live performance in years and she reportedly suffered a panic attack right before going on stage. Unfortunately, she was subjected to a ton of backlash after that performance.
"I know that people may not think I'm the greatest singer," Selena told Kelly."But, I just work my ass off. I really love writing and creating and creating melodies and growing. I felt like [Rare] was my chance to say all the things I wanted to say."
Kelly listened to Selena open up about the situation and then gave her the best advice ever. "You said, 'A lot of people might not think I'm the best singer,'" Kelly responded. "The best singer in the world is not the loudest. And it’s not the ‘OMG, you have to sing like Whitney Houston.’ The best singers in the world move you — and that comes from all different sounds and styles."
"From a singer to a singer, it’s beautiful what you do. And I love your record, and I love singing your music. It means something and it moves people," she continued. "So, don't ever negate your gift — because it's powerful." Selena was clearly moved by Kelly's words. The pair held hands and shared a sweet moment together—from singer to singer.
So, when is Kelly going to pivot to celebrity life coach? The world needs her sage advice!
