Lady Gaga Just Got A Newly Discovered Insect Named After Her

Being famous has a lot of perks. Aside from the private jets, exclusive parties, and award shows, celebrities sometimes inspire the name of newly discovered insect.

A University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign grad student named Brendan Morris recently discovered a new treehopper species and named it after the one and only Lady Gaga.

Dubbed Kaikaia gaga, Morris chose Gaga as the inspiration because of the unique nature of the insect. “If there is going to be a Lady Gaga bug, it’s going to be a treehopper, because they’ve got these crazy horns, they have this wacky fashion sense about them,” Morris told the Illinois News Bureau. “They’re unlike anything you’ve ever seen before.”

Morris found the species while looking through more than 1,000 specimens he borrowed from the Carnegie Museum of Natural History as part of his ongoing research.

Mother Monster has yet to reply to the news but there's no doubt she'll feel honored to have such a cool looking species named after her. 

After releasing her new song and video for “Stupid Love,” Lady Gaga announced a short six-city limited concert series called The Chromatica Ball Tour. Fans can grab tickets now.
