Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth called in quits on their marriage last August. Having only tied the knot 7 months earlier, fans were shocked the longtime couple were going their separate ways. Despite their ongoing divorce and the drama that followed in the immediate aftermath, it seems Miley and Liam only want the best for each other going forward.
According to an Entertainment Tonight source, Miley "just wants Liam to be happy" these days. Though their split was difficult, Miley reportedly understood that she and Liam had fundamental differences that couldn't be overcome. "She knows how important love and marriage are for him, but she just needed her independence," the source revealed. "Miley and Liam have moved on and it seems they're both where they most want to be in life."
Since Miley and Liam ended their short marriage, Miley has been in a relationship with fellow singer Cody Simpson, while Liam has moved on with model Gabriella Brooks. "While Liam's family has been a huge support since the breakup with Miley, it was Gabriella who made him realize there is life after Miley. Gabriella is quiet, low key. She loves to be alone with Liam and isn't seeking attention from others. Gabriella is young but adores him," ET's source added. "She gets along with his parents and his closest friends. The moment they started dating, they had incredible chemistry."
Like Miley, Liam also has nothing but love in his heart for his ex-wife. Though he reportedly had a more difficult time accepting they weren't right for each other, Liam has now accepted that they simply wanted different things out of life. "Liam loved Miley so much but in the back of his mind, he always knew a life with her would prove difficult because she never seemed ready to settle down," the source explained. "Liam wanted a marriage and family."
While it was upsetting to see Miley and Liam go their separate ways after 10 years together, it's comforting to know they're both moving on and finding happiness elsewhere.
