Sam Smith & Demi Lovato Soar On New Love Anthem 'I'm Ready'

Sam Smith and Demi Lovato link up on a new love anthem.

Last night (April 16), the powerhouse pair debuted a spirited and soulful song titled “I’m Ready.” On the uplifting record, which touches on vulnerability and seeking love, Smith and Lovato soar with beautiful melodies over a smoking-hot pop beat. “I gotta take that risk tonight/ I’m ready, I’m ready, I’m ready, I’m ready/ For someone to love me/ I’m ready, I’m ready, I’m ready/ For someone to love me, for someone to love me,” the dynamic duo harmonize as the chorus begins to rise into an inspiring gospel rhythm.

Both artists appear in the track’s accompanying music video, which finds Smith throwing down in a wrestling arena, smashing their opponent into a puff of glitter and running on the track with drag race performers and their fellow members of the LGBTQ community.

Elsewhere in the visual, Lovato, looking chic in a black-and-white ensemble, can be seen singing her verses atop a diving board above a swimming pool as nearby swimmers take their plunge. The video then culminates with a queer Olympics ceremony, with Lovato and Smith belting together to give the song a remarkable finale.

“I’m Ready” features on Smith’s upcoming third studio album, temporarily titled To Die For, which releases June 5.

Smith expressed their excitement about working with Lovato on the duet in a recent interview. “I’ve never had so much fun creating and releasing a single before,” they said. “We created the song surrounded by love and happiness, and the outcome feels incredibly powerful, so I hope that right now, in this unsettling and sad time, this makes you smile. Sing it with us from the top of your voice.”
