YUNGBLUD Takes On The Anxieties Of The World In New Single 'Weird!'

Last week, YUNGBLUD surprised fans on The YUNGBLUD Show with news of his single, titled “Weird!,” and on Wednesday (April 22), the song was released.

He previously mentioned that the track was written before the coronavirus pandemic that forced us all to be confined to our homes and disrupted our everyday lives. But knowing the lyrics would resonate with fans during this unprecedented time, YUNGBLUD decided to release the track early.

“This song is about a really, really weird time in my life when I couldn't understand the world and I thought to meself that this could not be more of a right time to put it out,” he previously said about “Weird!”

He also noted that the lyrics reflect his quick rise to fame, heartbreak, suicidal thoughts, and the moment he almost lost his mother in a car accident.

In the lyrics, YUNGBLUD sings about fear and anxiety and the weirdness of the world: ”hold my hand/ Hold it tight/ We’re in a weird time of life.”

Within the song he always sings about a sliver of hope and optimism, telling fans: “don’t wreck your brain/ It’s gonna be alright/ We’re in a weird time of life.”

The song itself is a little more electro-pop than fans may be used to from the alt rocker who says he was channeling Depeche Mode and LCD Soundsystem.

YUNGBLUD's sophomore album is still slated to arrive this summer despite the current events and while he had to postpone his tour, he's found many ways to keep fans entertained and engaged.
