About six months ago, Brett Young and his wife, Taylor, started their parenthood journey as they welcomed their first child, Presley Elizabeth. Even though Presley is still so young, the country singer is already looking forward to seeing what hobbies, passions and interests she'll have one day.
In a recent interview with his record label, Young explained that although he'd love if she'd pick up on music or baseball, he never wants to be an overbearing parent or force anything. "I hope that I don't push my kids in any one direction," he says. "It's so easy to say, but I hope that all we do is give them the opportunity to choose whatever it is that makes them happy."
Although he's supportive regardless of what she grows to love, Young knows that he won't be able to resist exposing her to some of his passions. "I'm sure that I'll probably give nudges here and there, but for the most part, I appreciate that in my upbringing, everything was available to me and I got to pick," he explains. "My parents supported whatever I chose to do and so, I hope that that's how we'll parent."
He continued on to explain how he doesn't want to force anything too much because he realizes that could possible create resentment from Presley. "The goal is to not do that but we'll see. Wish me luck."
Presley was welcomed to the world by her parents on October 21, 2019. At the time, Young shared a photo of his family of three with a heartfelt note to his wife and baby girl. "Taylor, my wife. You are a superhero. Your beauty and strength never cease to amaze me," part of the caption says. He continues, "My daughter, Baby P, you’re perfect. I am so head over heels in love with you I can’t even explain it. My world is forever changed because God gave you to me."
