Mac Miller's breakout mixtape, K.I.D.S., is finally available on streaming services.
To fans' delight, K.I.D.S., which stands for Kickin’ Incredibly Dope Sh*t, arrived on streaming services early Wednesday (April 29) morning, nearly ten years after its initial release. The late rapper’s fourth mixtape, which was released in August 2010, features some of his classic tracks like "Kool-Aid & Frozen Pizza," "Senior Skip Day," and "Nikes on My Feet."
Last year, Rostrum Records founder Benjy Grinberg teased the project's arrival on streaming services, writing on Instagram, "On this 9th anniversary of the first tape that Mac and Rostrum put out together, I’m excited to announce that 'K.I.D.S.' will be available on all streaming services later this year! After Macadelic came out, Mac asked if we could clear this one next. It has been challenging but we are getting through it. We miss Mac every day and we see our job as making sure his music lives on. We love you, Mac."
K.I.D.S. latest release comes just months after Mac's posthumous album, Circles. Just last month, the late rapper's estate dropped the deluxe edition of the project, adding two new tracks: "Right" and "Floating."
In January, the 26-year-old rapper's family revealed that Circles was the sister project to Mac's final LP, Swimming. "At the time of his passing, Malcolm was well into the process of recording his companion album to Swimming, entitled Circles. Two different styles complementing each other, completing a circle—Swimming in Circles was the concept," they said in a statement.
Mac's family went on to explain that he had been working on Circles with singer-songwriter and producer Jon Brion prior to his death. "After hearing some early versions of songs, [Jon] cleared his calendar to help Malcolm fine-tune them," Mac's family shared. "After his passing, Jon dedicated himself to finishing Circles based on his time and conversations with Malcolm. We are eternally grateful to Jon and to those who gave their best to the difficult and emotional task of putting out this body of work."
