Despite testing positive for COVID-19, CNN host Chris Cuomo did his best to stay on air throughout his illness. On Monday's episode of Cuomo Prime Time, Cuomo spoke with Dr. Anthony Fauci—the country’s leading infectious disease expert and Cuomo's longtime friend—about his battle with coronavirus.
Dr. Fauci checked in on Cuomo, his wife and son out of personal concern when they were all sick. “I was worried about you, that’s the reason why I kept calling,” Dr. Fauci said. “You were going through some difficult times.”
According to Dr. Fauci, Cuomo's symptoms were much worse than he let on to his viewers. “I don’t think that people were really experiencing or realizing how you were really sucking it up to look relatively normal,” he said. “But when you finished the show, when we started chatting at 11, 11:30 at night, you were wiped out. You not only had the acute difficulty with the virus that was replicating in you, but you had some of the secondary effects … the fever, the aches, the feeling washed out. You put on a great act in front of the TV because you were really wiped out badly."
While @ChrisCuomo and his family were sick with coronavirus, Dr. Anthony Fauci called them almost every day to check in on their health.

Cuomo also had kind words to say about Dr. Fauci, who is currently helping to guide the United States through the ongoing pandemic. The television host said he wants his viewers to know “who they’re getting in Tony Fauci ... The head and the heart that comes together in your body is the real deal.”
