Dixie Chicks Announce New Release Date For New 'Gaslighter' Album

Dixie Chicks have revealed the new release date for their comeback album, Gaslighter. The country trio's first new album in 14 years will officially drop on July 17.

On Thursday (June 11), the group shared the news through a series of photos on social media, in which their faces are Photoshopped onto images of what appears to be three beauty pageant participants. The new release date is revealed through numbers that appear on each girl's sash. The photo can be seen below.

The trio consisting of Natalie Maines, Emily Strayer and Martie Maguire were initially going to release Gaslighter on May 1. However, they decided to postpone the release indefinitely in light of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Dixie Chicks have already given fans a glimpse at the new album with the release of two songs. In March, they released the album's title track, "Gaslighter," which was by the Maines, Maguire and Strayer alongside Jack Antonoff while the music video was directed by Seanne Farmer.

Most recently, the trio shared a new song called "Julianna Calm Down" with fans. The heartfelt ballad speaks directly to women in harmful relationships. "Julianna, calm down / You know he's about to leave but don't panic / Don't give him the satisfaction that you can't handle it / Breathe," they sing.

Gaslighter is the Dixie Chicks' first album since 2006's Taking The Long Way. Stay tuned for more details to come.
