Jennifer Lopez knows the importance of healthcare workers amid the COVID-19 pandemic and one New York City nurse came face-to-face with the star during a surprise meet-and-greet.

Emergency nurse Cassy Toben recently appeared on Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie's Peacock-aired The At-Home Variety Show to talk about the realities of essential workers. "You realize quickly that you're not going to save everybody," she explained to viewers of her experience at Lennox Hill Hospital. "You're not going to save a lot of people, and that's really devastating and it's scary. And the people, the beds that you see, you wanna help. And then they start to remind you of your family, and then you worry about your family and yourself."

Minutes into the interview, Toben was met with a surprise when the pop titan appeared on the video call for an impromptu cameo. "We are so grateful for everything that you do," Lopez told Tovben, who was understandably "freaking out" over her appearance. "To think that that was only a few months ago and we were all celebrating something together as a country and now here we are. But thank you for that because it’s really inspirational," Toben told Lopez in reference to her show-stopping Super Bowl LIV performance, alongside Shakira. Yet, the superstar wanted to make sure that the healthcare worker felt all the love, calling the nurse "heroic" for her efforts.

“You guys absolutely are [badass],” Lopez told Toben. "And again, like, thinking about what you have to go through every day. I was listening to you saying as I [was] sneakily waiting to say hello — about, you know, you can’t save everybody and how hard that must be and that kind of reality setting in and it just reminded me too of how difficult this time is and how challenging it’s been."

To end the call, Lopez invited Toben out to her first post-quarantine concert. “You have to come down and come to the concert. Hoda, remind me to do that, to make that happen. You bring a bunch of girlfriends and we’ll have a good time," she said.
