Cardi B is in hot water for cracking a racially offensive joke about her sister Hennessy Carolina.
The “Press” rapper ruffled quite a few feathers on social media when she used a racial slur against Chinese people to poke fun at Hennessy’s facial features. Everything started when Cardi posted a composite image that showed what her and Offset’s 2-year-old daughter Kulture might look like as an adult. “Sooo this how KK finna look? I love it,” Cardi captioned the since-deleted post.
Well, a fan commented that the result appeared to show Kulture favoring Hennessy’s looks over Cardi’s, to which the “I Like It” star replied, “I think cause Hennessy got ch–ky eyes like offset and so [does] KK .Its the only think I could think off.”
As expected, fans gave Cardi a much-needed lesson on racism and slammed the emcee for using the insulting epithet — which the star apparently didn't know was offensive to Asian people. “I didn’t know that ch–ky eyes was a slur like wtfff I DONT KNOW F—IN EVERYTHING !!” the 27-year-old hit back in a tweet, which has also been erased. “We don’t even use that as a insult and I didn’t use it as a insult.”
"Cardi B. now tries to say she did not realize “chinky” eyes was a racial slur and she doesn’t know everything. Nope that was ignorant-like me not knowing the n word is racist. Uh huh," one Twitter user responded.
"Cardi B is 28 years old and has travelled around the world and back... but doesn’t know chinky eyes is a slur... her excuse: she doesn’t 'know everything.'"
Ultimately, Cardi decided to leave social media alone, stating that she was “sick of the internet.”
