Julianne Hough Celebrates 32nd Birthday Following Split From Brooks Laich

Despite her separation from husband Brooks Laich, Julianne Hough is looking forward to a new chapter in life.

On Monday (July 20), the singer/actress took to Instagram to share a message in honor of her 32nd birthday milestone and it centered around the concept of gratitude. "Sun shining on my face. Taking a deep breath. I’ve got a puppy in my bed coming over to kiss me," she wrote in one post on her Stories. "What more could you ask for? Happy birthday to me." To follow-up the message, she shared what seems to be the ingredients for a peaceful Hough. "Sun + breath + puppy = alive," she listed.

Laich and Hough, who have been married for almost three years, announced their decision to go their separate ways in early June. "We have lovingly and carefully taken the time we have needed to arrive at our decision to separate," they confirmed in a joint statement to PEOPLE. "We share an abundance of love and respect for one another and will continue to lead with our hearts from that place. We kindly request your compassion and respect for our privacy moving forward."

Prior to the big announcement, the two had been publicly fighting to keep their relationship alive and the celebrity gossip outlets were fully capitalizing off their demise. Nonetheless, the two had been open about their decision to spend quarantine apart, with Laich in Idaho and Hough in Los Angeles. Since their announcement, Hough has laughed off the idea of having an "emotional breakdown" through some meme humor.
