Despite announcing their decision to separate, Brooks Laich isn't giving up on Julianne Hough just yet.

As per PEOPLE, a source has revealed that the retired hockey player, 37, is "definitely still open to getting back together with Julianne," considering their almost-three years of marriage. "If that were an option, he would be all in," the source explained. “Her friends and family love him, and everyone is pulling for him. He’s a great guy, and they would love to see Julianne give things another chance."

Earlier this week, Hough took to Instagram to share a message in honor of her 32nd birthday milestone and it centered around the concept of gratitude. "Sun shining on my face. Taking a deep breath. I’ve got a puppy in my bed coming over to kiss me. What more could you ask for? Happy birthday to me," she wrote in one post on her Instagram Story. To follow up the message, she shared what seems to be the ingredients for a peaceful Hough. "Sun + breath + puppy = alive," she listed.

Prior to the big announcement, the couple had been publicly fighting to keep their relationship alive and the celebrity gossip outlets fully capitalized off their demise. Nonetheless, the two had been open about their decision to spend quarantine apart, with Laich in Idaho and Hough in Los Angeles. In a report from Us Weekly, another source told the celebrity gossip outlet that Laich didn't want to call it quits, but Hough's behavior promoted him to do so. “Her actions are what caused her divorce with Brooks,” the source said. "Brooks did not want a divorce, but he felt pushed toward it because of how Julianne was behaving. But Brooks is not the one who is bummed now."
