If you've been paying attention to The 1975's YouTube page over the past couple of months, you will have noticed that the band has been uploading an array of visuals tied to songs on their most-recent record, Notes On A Conditional Form.
On Wednesday (July 22), The 1975 unveiled the complete online art exhibit featuring a collection of videos where they commissioned 14 artists to make creative videos based on songs from NOACF.
In a statement on their site, The 1975 explain:
The Exhibition
To accompany the release of their album 'Notes On A Conditional Form', The 1975 and director Ben Ditto have commissioned 14 artists to make artworks that respond to 14 of its tracks, with the artist having complete creative control – bringing out their themes and also offering fresh perspectives on them. The resulting exhibition takes the innovative form of a YouTube playlist.
While we've previously shown you a handful of the videos, all are now available to watch on YouTube and each piece is done in different disciplines including AI, 3D modeling, cinematography and more. It's basically like getting free museum admission from the comfort of your own home.
One of the best, and most interesting, parts of the entire project is that each artist was given free will to express themselves and their own take on the song in whichever way they chose. Some of the visuals were, of course, inspired and impacted by quarantine such as artist Mia Kerin's take on “Roadkill.”
