After releasing their new single "Hero" in May, Weezer performed a stripped down, piano-led rendition for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last month. The band must have dug the track's "alter ego," because on Thursday (July 30) they officially released a piano version of "Hero."
Weezer revealed the new adaptation on Instagram. "'Hero' got its own alter ego - new piano version out everywhere today," they wrote before giving fans more to get excited about. "Van Weezer update coming soon, plus a whole lot more."
Van Weezer will be the band's 14th album and has suffered multiple delays in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. Weezer, Green Day, and Fall Out Boy were also forced to reschedule their Hella Mega Tour as COVID-19 health concerns continue to affect the live music industry. The bands recently revealed new dates and will be on the road next summer.
Listen to Weezer's piano version of "Hero" and check out the rescheduled Hella Mega Tour dates below.
