Miley Cyrus is the latest star announced to perform at the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards!
The Disney darling will make her return to the VMAs to deliver the first live performance of her new single, “Midnight Sky,” the network revealed Monday (August 17). The singer, who will mark her fifth performance this year, previously hit the main stage during last year’s VMAs for a powerful interpretation of her heartbreaking song “Slide Away.”
On August 30, Cyrus will join a hot roster of previously announced performers, including Lady Gaga, BTS, Doja Cat, J Balvin, The Weeknd, Roddy Ricch, Maluma, and CNCO. What’s more, the superstar’s directional music video for “Mother’s Daughter” bagged her a VMA nod for Best Art Direction and Best Editing.

Keke Palmer will host the show, which sees Mother Monster and Ariana Grande leading in this year’s VMA nominations with nine nods respectively, followed by Billie Eilish and The Weeknd’s six nods.
As previously reported, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the venue will no longer be hosted at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, but across several outdoor locations. "The VMAs will highlight the boroughs in an exciting show and return to Barclays Center in 2021," spokespeople for MTV and Barclays Center explained in a previous statement. "MTV will continue to work closely with the Department of Health, state and local officials, the medical community, and key stakeholders to ensure the safety of all involved."
The 2020 VMAs will broadcast at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Sunday, August 30. Click here to vote across 15 gender-neutral categories.
