Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande are set to perform at the 2020 MTV Video Music Awards together.
On Tuesday (August 18), it was announced that the pop titans are set to hit the stage together for their first live performance of "Rain On Me." In addition to performance duties, the two are top contenders in the pack of nominees with nine apiece. "Rain On Me" is also up for the top prize of the night, Video of the Year. "I've been at home dreaming of #Chromatica, and it’s finally time to take off for the first live performance. Tune in to the #VMAs on 8/30!," Gaga wrote in her announcement post on Friday. While this will be Gaga’s first performance at the VMAs since her rendition of "Applause" in 2013, Grande performed "God Is a Woman” in 2018.
The pair join a star-studded roster of performers, including The Weeknd, Roddy Ricch, Maluma, CNCO, BTS, Doja Cat and J Balvin.
Instead of being held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, the VMAs are opting for audience-less outdoor performances in and around New York City. "The 2020 VMAs will be held on Sunday, August 30th and pay homage to the incredible resiliency of New York with several outdoor performances around the City with limited or no audience, adhering to all state and city guidelines," spokespersons for MTV and the Barclays Center said in a joint statement.
If you want to get in on the action for the upcoming ceremony, you can vote for all 15 gender-neutral categories. The 2020 MTV Video Music Awards will air at 8pm ET on August 30 across MTV's linear and digital platforms.
