The “hot girl bummer” singer previously dropped Part 1 of everything means nothing featuring the first six songs on the album with the remaining tracks dropping tomorrow (August 21) when the album's out in full.
On the new track with LAUV the pair sing about what it'd be like swapping places with a partner and how they'd “do it all so differently” if the tables were turned.
In the pre-chorus bear sings, “And I wonder if we flipped the script / I wouldn't be such a d*** / If I was you and you was me / I wouldn't put up with the s***”
“It’s like a daydream of a record, and it was really hard for me to actually write because it’s confusing,” bear said about the song. “it took a lot of brain power for me to write that record.”
As for LAUV's verse he sings from the perspective of the end of the relationship that has gone wrong. “The second that I showed any emotion / You cut me off, I guess that's just the motion / Good God, you're so mean / Girl, if I were you and you were me / I would never leave your heart this broken.”
Both blackbear and LAUV have been staying busy in quarantine as they've both been featured in a couple new songs this summer. Bear recently teamed up with Charlie Puth for “Hard On Yourself” which the pair dropped last week and LAUV was featured on Ellie Goulding's new track, “Slow Grenade.”
