Blackpink and Selena Gomez’s new collab is almost here!
Last night, the K-pop stars and the “Rare” songbird dropped the first teaser video for their upcoming song, “Ice Cream,” set to release this Friday (August 28). The 27-second clip opens with what sounds to be the upbeat instrumental for the new track before Gomez and Blackpink greet each other over video chat.
“Thank you for staying up so early,” Gomez tells Jisoo, Rosé, Lisa, and Jennie, with whom she broadcasts from a different time zone.
“We’re really glad that you’re on it ‘cause we’ve been a big fan of yours for a long time,” Rosé gushes at one point in the clip, to which Gomez responds, “I’m so stoked. I’ve been a fan of you guys and so, like, this is a big, big dream for me and I can’t wait.”
Blackpink and Gomez have been teasing their new song for weeks now, and the stars only recently unveiled the name of their first collaboration, which will serve as the second official single from their debut album, BLACKPINK: The Album (releasing October 2).
Prior to announcing the name of their joint, the “Look At Her Now” superstar teased what looked to be a sneak peek from a possible music video for the song on Instagram. “SELPINK pulling up soon. 8/28,” the Disney darling wrote along with a picture of an ice cream truck with “Selpink” scrawled onto the license plate.
As aforementioned, “Ice Cream” will be BP’s second single to follow “How You Like That,” which set the bar this year by breaking a number of Guinness world records. It’ll also mark the Korean act’s second collaboration of the year after the ladies assisted Lady Gaga on her Chromatica song, “Sour Candy.”
“Ice Cream” will also be Gomez’s second team-up of 2020 following her feature on Trevor Daniel’s “Past Life” remix.
