Despite no VMAs winners being announced just yet, YUNGBLUD is truly thankful that he was nominated in the first place.
On Monday (August 24), Dom took to social media to share his gratitude with fans after he made it to the top three in the Best New Artist category at this year's VMAs.
Next to a picture of the “Strawberry Lipstick” singer rocking a skirt, YUNGBLUD posted a lengthy caption reflecting on how far he and his fans have come.
“TOP 3 for best new artist at the @vmas what the f***!!! it’s mental to think group of lonely f***** freaks who came together to feel something are building a community that is having an impact on a 'mainstream' culture,” he wrote. “It’s so mental to think how far we have come just for being ourselves, yet i think we’re only jus getting started... we are makin noise and we are been acknowledged for it. its is WE and always will be WE.”
YUNGBLUD is up against Doja Cat and Lewis Capaldi for Best New Artist and voting is still open via Twitter. It's also only one of two categories where fans can still vote ahead of this weekend's awards show — Best Group is also open for voting and includes the likes of The 1975 and twenty one pilots.
“You deserve this and more, I hope you get the top 1 because you are really the best new artist,” one fan wrote to the singer while another commented, “LET’S DO THIS. THIS IS FOR EVERYONE WHO HAS EVER FELT MISUNDERSTOOD YOU ARE WELCOME HERE IN THE BHC.”
The VMAs air live Sunday, August 30 at 8pm ET/6pm PT on MTV.
