Brett Eldredge Shares Emotional 'Sunday Drive' Music Video

Brett Eldredge has shared the new music video for "Sunday Drive," the title track of his latest album. The emotional visual will likely move viewers to tears, just as it did Eldredge himself.

"Oh, I bawled," the country star tells People. "I bawled when I first watched it. I was drinking a smoothie, sitting in my car, watching it on my phone, and I completely lost it. I've shot a lot of music videos, but nothing has ever come close to the emotion of this."

The black-and-white clip, directed by Reid Long, casts Eldredge as the narrator, playing the piano on an empty country road in his hometown of Paris, Illinois. As he sings, actors portray a family going on a long Sunday Drive, evoking a sense of nostalgia.

"I wanted to show a glimpse of a kid from the middle of nowhere in the heart of the heartland," Eldredge shares, adding, "I've just seen it in my mind a million times. My grandfather had a station wagon growing up, and I remember riding in the back, so I wanted one in the video."

Although, Eldredge is able to connect to the meaning of song, it's actually the only track on his new album that he didn't co-write. "Sunday Drive," which was written by Barry Dean, Don Mescall, and Steve Robson, was first discovered by Eldredge when he was a college intern in Nashville. The first time Eldredge heard the song he says it "completely stopped me in my tracks."

"I didn't even know I had these emotions," he explains. "You don't even think about that stuff when you're in your early twenties. You're just like trying to take over the world, and you don't really pay attention to all those emotions. Well, I found those emotions in this song."

Eldredge's fifth studio album, Sunday Drive, was released last month. The introspective new project arrived after the country singer decided to take some time away from the spotlight and social media to further discover himself as an artist and a person.

Sunday Drive features a total of 12 songs including the piano-driven "Crowd My Mind," "Where The Heart Is" and the album's lead single, "Gabrielle." The new project follows Eldredge's 2017 self-titled album.
