The Cleveland Browns laid out reopening plans this week ahead of the home opener.

Browns Chief Operating Office David Jenkins and Vice President of Finance and Administration Greg Rush held a teleconference to describe the plan before the upcoming game, noting the COVID-19 health and safety guidelines.

The Browns will face off against the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday (September 17). Only 6,000 fans will be allowed to sit in the FirstEnergy Stadium stands for at least the first two games of the season, dispersed throughout lower level and club seats with upper levels blocked off.

The “Return to Stadium” plan requires social distancing, masks, employee health screenings, disinfecting the stadium before and after games, and more.

Officials added that FirstEnergy Stadium will be cashless, and a prosecutor will be on site to help handle any fines in connection with the strict mask policy, among other details.

Though attendance is capped at less than 10 percent stadium capacity, Browns officials look forward to allowing fans into the stadium.

“Our fans really do create a home-field advantage,” Jenkins said, WKYC reported Wednesday (September 15). “And our players have been outspoken about how they feel about our fans.”
