A Deerfield Beach man became a millionaire after a lucky visit to a 7-Eleven, according to Local 10 on Thursday (October 1).

Juan Peralta Romero, 35, won $1 million from the “Lucky $200,000 A Year For Life” scratch-off game. He also decided to take home a one-time, lump-sum payment of $917,525.10, according to lottery officials.

Peralta Romero bought the $20 scratcher from the 7-Eleven at 3580 West Hillsboro Boulevard in Deerfield Beach. The store also gets a $2,000 bonus commission for selling the winning ticket.

Peralto Romano is also the third Broward County resident to score $1 million from the lottery this week. On Monday (September 28), officials announced a Pompano Beach man and a Fort Lauderdale man both became millionaires.

“Earlier last week, it was revealed that another Pompano Beach man won $1,000 for life from a gas station quick-pick in Oakland Park,” according to Local 10

A Miami woman won $2 million from a $10 scratch-off ticket in September. She bought the winning ticket from a Publix.

Florida lottery officials said scratch-offs make up about 75% of ticket sales and generated over $1 billion for the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund in the last fiscal year.
