5 North Carolina Cities Make 'Top 100 Places To Live' List

Five North Carolina cities were listed among the nation's best places to live, according to a new list.
Livability.com released its "2020 Top 100 Best Places To Live" list, which features two North Carolina cities in the top 10, three in the top 15, four in the top 50 and five in the top 100.
The cities listed include: Asheville (No. 6), Durham (No. 9), Charlotte (No. 13), Wilmington (No. 43) and Winston-Salem (No. 92).
Livability set a ranking criteria to include each of the following categories:
- Amenities- Cities have to get the basic rights in order to be a great place to live such varied and affordable housing, low crime rates, a strong economy and accessible quality health care.
- Demographics- Cities that have a variety of people and jobs.
- Economy- Having a strong economy means a city can invest in all of the infrastructure, amenities, schools and health care to make it livable.
- Health Care- Livable communities are healthy communities.
- Social and Civic Capital- Great people and culture.
- Transportation and Infrastructure- How traffic and daily commute affect livability.
Asheville received the highest LIV score among North Carolina cities with a total of 708. Durham scored 700, Charlotte scored 696, Wilmington scored 652 and Winston-Salem scored 609.
