The suspect accused in the shooting at Opry Mills Mall last week has surrendered to authorities.
Juwan Gaines, 19, is in custody after his family surrendered him to the Metro Nashville Police Department's Hermitage Precinct Tuesday morning, the department announced.
Gaines was identified as the man who fired shoots inside the mall on Wednesday, September 30. MNPD had arrest warrants charging him with attempted murder, felony reckless endangerment, and using a gun in the commission of a dangerous felony, according to Metro Police.
The shooting took place in a hallway of the mall and involved one group of five individuals and another group of three, FOX 17 News reports.
Metro Police are continuing to investigate the shooting and searching for another man and woman who were standing by Gaines during the shooting. The department shared surveillance photos of the suspects involved in the shooting via Twitter.
Metro Police said two guns -- a revolver and a semi-automatic handgun -- were found in the parking lot outside Dave and Busters on the Opry Mills property.
Last month, a Nashville man shared a Facebook Live video shortly after a shooting took place inside Opry Mills Mall.
Andrew Olayo was inside the building when two groups of people approached each other and one person reportedly pulled a handgun from his waistband and opened fire, FOX 17 News reports. Metro Police said a 19-year-old who was struck and suffered a chest wound during the shooting is currently in critical condition.
In the video, Olayo and others are shown escaping the mall through a side door and walking through the parking lot.
Olayo shared a post on Facebook updating the situation, "I thought that fear didn't exist today when I saw death so closely and with all my family I felt so cowardly not being able to protect them but I hope the person who resivio [sic] the bullets is well and grab those responsible for what happened Today at Opry Mills."
