Skai Jackson honored her late friend, Cameron Boyce, with her latest Dancing With the Stars performance.
The Disney star danced her heart out with an emotional tribute to her late Jessie castmate in last night’s (October 5) broadcast. Jackson and her partner, Alan Bersten, commanded the ballroom floor to the sounds of John Legend’s “Ordinary People.” Together, the duo swayed and displayed effortless chemistry during the passionate showcase, which culminated in the 18-year-old crying bittersweet tears of joy.
As fans know, Boyce tragically passed away in his sleep on July 6, 2019, after suffering a “massive epileptic seizure.” The Disney star was 20 years old.
Making the tribute even more special and rewarding, Jackson’s Foxtrot performance scored the first 10 of the season.
Ahead of her performance, the young actress told Bersten how much it meant to dedicate her performance to Boyce, who she said was “in my life for half of my life.”
“We just really built this bond for years and years and years and he was kind of like a big brother figure to me, you know, and always looked out for me through everything,” she continued. “He really molded me into the person I am now. Of course, I miss him every day.”
“It just makes me a little bit sad, of course. He’s not here, but I know that he would be really proud of me,” she continued. “I’m just really glad that he’s here to watch over us.”
