Could we be getting the ultimate Canadian crooner collab?

For years, Shawn Mendes and Justin Bieber fans have been itching to hear the two pop stars come together on a record. Well, Mendes somewhat addressed whether or not the dream collaboration will finally come to fruition.

In a recent interview, Mendes was asked to play a game called “I Wonder If It’s True,” during which one of the hosts pressed the “Lost in Japan” star about an ongoing rumor that he allegedly turned down the chance to record a track with Bieber.

“Is this you trying to get me to confirm that I have a collaboration with Justin Bieber?” Mendes quipped, catching onto the question.

“I didn’t… last month,” he added. “If I turned one down, that would be insane, considering he’s been one of my favorite artists since I was like 9 years old.”

Ultimately, the “There’s Nothing Holdin' Me Back” artist said he “cannot confirm nor deny” the rumor, although he did admit that the pair has “become a lot closer” in the last six months.

He added, “It’s really cool to have him as a mentor in a lot of ways just to kind of talk through stuff with because there’s not a lot of people who do this kind of stuff.”

In case you're curious about the origin of the collab speculation, the "Yummy" singer and the 22-year-old — who signaled his next music era last week with a new single titled “Wonder” — were both spotted heading to the same recording studio just a few months ago.

We'll know whether the gossip is true or not when Mendes releases his new album, Wonder, on December 4.
