A man in Knox County was arrested after he damaged a cemetery in an effort to resurrect his dead grandmother. Danny Fraizer was charged with vandalism and criminal trespassing after he entered a church cemetery on Monday and caused an estimated $30,000 in damage.

Around 2:30 p.m. on October 5, deputies from the Knox County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of vandalism at a church cemetery on Huckleberry Springs Road, WBIR reports. They found extensive damage at the cemetery including broken headstones and areas that appeared to be dug up.

According to WBIR, a church representative told law enforcement that a homeless man had been staying near the property and causing damage around the cemetery. Police had apparently spoken with the man, identified as Fraizer, the previous day near the property.

The deputies said Fraizer admitted to destroying parts of the property in an effort to resurrect his grandmother, who is buried at the cemetery. Fraizer was taken into custody and is being held at the Roger D. Wilson Detention Facility on a $20,000 bond.

If you are struggling with homelessness, the State of Tennessee offers resources for housing, support, education, and more. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services also provides support on a federal level.
