Wilmington High School has transitioned back to remote leaning after police were reportedly called to a party that involved underage drinking.

A 47-year-old man and 45-year-old woman, both residents of Wilmington, have been charged with providing alcohol to minors in relation to the party, which was attended by about 30 Wilmington High School students, CBS Boston reports.

Health officials were unable to do any contact tracing in relation to the possible spread of COVID-19 through the large gathering as many of the students scattered when officers responded to the party. Police said parents were at the house when the party occurred.

“Officers were not able to identify those who left the party, but the ones who remained stated that there had been approximately 25 to 30 juveniles at the residence in the enclosed basement prior to their arrival,” police said in a statement obtained by CBS Boston. “Inside the basement the officers observed obvious signs of an underage drinking party.”

The school superintended ordered to transition back to virtual classes after news broke of the students attending the party. CBS Boston reports the school will continue to hold remote classes for at least two weeks.

On Monday, the Massachusetts Department of Health reported 148,336 total COVID-19 cases, including 1,216 new cases in a 24-hour span.
