Thomas Rhett Previews New Single, 'What's Your Country Song'

Thomas Rhett has new music on the way! The country singer surprised fans on social media with a preview of his brand new single from his upcoming fifth studio album called "What's Your Country Song."

The track, written by Rhett alongside Rhett Akins, Jesse Frasure, Ashley Gorley and Parker Welling, finds the singer asking listeners to share what songs have shaped them through their life. The song references classics such as Merle Haggard's "Mama Tried," Alan Jackson's "Drive" and "Chattahoochee" and George Strait's "All My Exes Live in Texas." The songs also includes a nod to more modern hits like Jake Owen's "Barefoot Blue Jean Night."

"We wrote this song on the road last year in Dallas, Texas," Rhett said in a statement. "It’s really about how I was noticing that no matter where you live or where you’re from, everyone has a little bit of country inside their bones."

Fans first heard "What's Your Country Song" in April when the country star posted his acoustic performance of the track on Instagram.

"Everybody got a small town anthem / Everybody got a story to tell / When you're rollin down a two-lane highway / And you turn your radio on / Tell me which one hits you baby / What's your country song," Rhett sings in the clip.

"What's Your Country Song" is due out on November 11. Watch Rhett's acoustic performance below.

Rhett is set to hit the stage this week at the 2020 CMA Awards for a performance of his chart-topping song, "Be A Light" featuring Reba McEntire, Hillary Scott and Chris Tomlin. The country singer will head into the big night with a nomination for Male Vocalist of the Year and Musical Event of the Year.

Fans can tune in to The 54th Annual CMA Awards, airing live from Nashville’s Music City Center on Wednesday, Nov. 11 at 8PM ET. A complete list on nominees can be seen here.
