While we haven't gotten a new twenty one pilots song in quite some time, Josh Dun is blessing our ears with what he does best: drumming.
Dun teamed up with The Chainsmokers' drummer, Matt McGuire, for an absolutely jaw-dropping “MegaMix Drum Cover.” The duo covered seven of their favorite songs and posted the 19-minute video to YouTube on Sunday (November 8). You'll hear the guys play for the first 12 minutes and then they talk about their friendship and more for the remainder of the video.
While the guys are drumming, the vocals play over the video so you can sing along while you watch.
“We thought it would be cool to do some older songs that were inspirational to us in some way or another – songs that we’ve played in the past, whether it’s in our parents’ basement or in a loft in a warehouse that we rented out somewhere,” Dun said about their collaboration. “We grew up across the world from each other and we were influenced by very similar things.”
“It was really cool to see the influences when Josh would send me a song… it brought back a lot of memories,” McGuire said.
The guys started with a high-energy song, Jay-Z & Linkin Park's “Jigga What / Faint,” before moving into “That's What You Get” by Paramore.
Dun and McGuire also covered Underøath, N.E.R.D, A$AP Rocky, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and closed their cover session with Foo Fighters' classic hit, “Best Of You.”
