Leave it to Kelly Clarkson to drop a less-than-two-minute version of Aerosmith's classic, "Dream On," and leave fans stunned.
As part of the Monday (November 9) episode of her daily talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, the American Idol, 38, rocked out with a shortened version of the 1976 hit, alongside her band, and it was fantastic. Similar to former Idol judge Steven Tyler's original, Clarkson started out slow and steady, before offering some impressive vocals while singing the bridge to the classic.
Just a few weeks ago, Clarkson covered another Aerosmith classic, "Cryin," and it was just as moving. In fact, her take on the 1993 hit could have very well hit a nerve with the star as she moves forward with her divorce from husband, Brandon Blackstock. "'Cause what you got inside/ Ain't where your love should stay/ Yeah, our love, sweet love, ain't love/ 'Til you give your heart away," she belted during the track’s heightened bridge.
Earlier this week, Clarkson hit back at the lawsuit by her father-in-law’s management company. The singer is being sued by Starstruck Management Group in a lawsuit claiming she owes more than $1.4 million in unpaid commissions this year in addition to the $1.9 million she’s already paid. It must feel personal because the company is owned by her estranged husband’s father, Narvel Blackstock, but Clarkson is fighting back.
As per a labor petition obtained by PEOPLE, Starstruck violated the California Labor Code for "procuring, offering, promising, or attempting to procure employment or engagements" for her without acquiring a talent agency license first. Additionally, she is attempting to have any and all agreements, including the reported verbal contract in which Clarkson allegedly agreed to pay the company 15% commission on her gross earnings, "declared void and unenforceable."
