Britney Spears does not want to work as long as her father, Jamie Spears, is her conservator, per her attorney Samuel D. Ingham III during her latest conservatorship hearing on Tuesday (November 10).

In the court hearing in Los Angeles, per Us Weekly, Ingham made it clear that the pop titan, 38, is not interested in a personal or professional relationship with Jamie, 68. "My client has informed me that she is afraid of her father. She also stated that she will not perform as long as her father is in charge of her career," the attorney claimed. "We are really at a crossroads."

Tuesday’s hearing saw both Britney and Jamie’s teams come together to determine whether Jamie will remain co-conservator of her estate. However, Judge Brenda Penny decided not to suspend Jamie and told the court that the matter could be further discussed "down the road."

On the other hand, Britney's mother, Lynne, 65, had some say during the hearing, despite never having an official role in her daughter's 12-year conservatorship. She is, however, an "interested person" in the case and it’s clear that she wants to see her daughter have more autonomy in her life. "It has broken Lynne's heart to watch that this has come to this point," Lynne’s attorney, Gladstone Jones, said. "Lynne believes the time is now to start fresh given the circumstance of Britney’s request."

Jones also revealed that during discussions about Britney's health in the summer of 2019, Jamie compared his daughter to "a racehorse who has to be handled like one."

As you know, Britney wants her father "suspended immediately" as her conservator, a role that has left all personal and professional matters involving the star in his hands for over a decade. He stepped down as conservator of her person in September 2019, citing "personal health reasons," but remained conservator of her estate since. Instead of Jamie, Britney has asked that her care manager, Jodi Montgomery, the woman who stepped in temporarily as her conservator of her person to "continue in that role," while requesting that Bessemer Trust Company, a private wealth management firm, oversee her business. She was recently granted the opportunity to expand her legal team in her fight against Jamie.
