Just months after the release of their third album, Women in Music Pt. III, HAIM's back with new music. Earlier this week, the sibling trio shared "Feel The Thunder," which is featured in the upcoming animated film The Croods: A New Age. The song acts as the theme for The Thunder Sisters and plays when they come to save the day in the movie, so HAIM had to write specifically with that scene in mind.
The sisters knew they needed to write a boisterous rock song, and they found just the right person to help write and produce it: Ariel Rechtshaid, who is “the biggest Guns N' Roses fan,” according to Danielle Haim.
“He’s obsessed with them – he went and saw them on their most recent tour a bunch of times,” she told Rolling Stone. “And so I figured that that’s what we were looking for. We were like, ‘Let’s get Ariel.’ But I’d never tried to make music like that before, so it was fully like a crazy experiment.”
Though the recording process took HAIM out of their comfort zone, it was refreshing to make a rock song. “We grew up listening to rock music, pop, a healthy smattering of a ton of different kinds of music,” Danielle said. “I don’t know how often you really hear rock music in a kid’s film anymore, or rock music in general anymore.”
The Croods: A New Age is slated for a Thanksgiving release. Listen to "Feel The Thunder" above.
