Dozens Of Dogs Saved In Pierce County Looking For Homes

Need a new furry friend? Dozens of dogs are looking for their forever home after authorities seized them during an animal cruelty investigation in Pierce County.

On October 14, Pierce County deputies served a search warrant at a a residence in the 9000 block of Portland Ave. E in Midland, according to KING 5. They got a tip that the property owner was allegedly shooting dogs with a pellet gun. Authorities removed 36 pit bull dogs and puppies from the property.

Since then, the dogs have been in the care of Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County. Officials with the organization said eight more puppies were born after the incident, so now they have 44 dogs and puppies ready for adoption.

"Ranging from just a few weeks old to 5 years old, all the dogs have been friendly, loving, and sociable since arriving at the shelter," according to the humane society's website. They're currently accepting applications from potential adopters. If you're interested, you'll have to undergo a comprehensive background check through Pierce County Animal Control.

There's no word on if charges will be pressed against the property owner involved the case.
